About

Currently an International Communication Studies student at the University of Nottingham Malaysia. My interests lie in cultural studies, film studies, film-making and photography. I speak English, Bahasa Melayu and Spanish. Favorite pastimes are reading, watching films, cycling, running and traveling.

This blog intends to focus on the indigenous communities within Malaysia, both Peninsular and Eastern (Sabah & Sarawak). The various posts will attempt to cover a range of content and topics from the culture, arts, music and contemporary issues of these communities. The Orang Asli of the Peninsular and numerous tribes in Sabah and Sarawak have a history of marginalization and under-representation. It would be wrong to write about these communities without their insight and perspective on their own issues. The blog is an opportunity to communicate with artists, activists and scholars of these communities to ensure that they have a say on matters related to them. It is hoped that a platform will be created to learn more about indigenous cultures and represent them in a way that is closer to how they see themselves.
